Missed

2015

Oil and photo transfer on canvas

Missed is a body of work that explores the subtle dance between the mist of Niagara Falls and the factory smoke coming from the industrial landscape that makes up the riverfront. The structures in the paintings are made up of photos I took of these factories back in 2004, but this series wasn’t conceptualized until around 2010 when I was driving into Niagara over a bridge and for a moment accidentally mistook the factory smoke for the mist.
