Industrial waste, paint, copper flashing, lights

UNCENSORED NIAGARA is a site-specific installation influenced by the 100’s of known waste sites in Western New York. The work asked its viewers to take an honest look at the land and community and where its extreme history has landed us.

The installation was created inside a 120' tall grain hopper in Silo City, Buffalo, NY. Installed was a mound reflecting a waste site where grain would have once poured on to the floor. The mound materials were made from a dump truck full of industrial waste collected from local factories. Miniature illuminated houses made from recycled materials inhabited the waste sites around the 30' diameter room. These houses represent the many communities in Western New York that live on or near these toxic sites. Over 10,000 visitors came through this installation over the course of a weekend.
